Has anyone worked with CreateSpace, the self-publishing platform?  I haven't as of yet, but have been tempted.  One of the things that is holding me back is some of the short works I've read that was published on said were, frankly, poorly written drivel. I suppose that shouldn't reflect on the platform itself, but, still, it makes me take pause.

Anyone care to opine on this one?  Thank you. Smile

There is this thing here called rehashing where a writer would copy another work and change the words or sentences and even paragraphs to give it a different impression. But if you read the text, the message or thought is the very same thing as the original. But how can we complain about it if someone would plagiarize our work? This is a hot issue now in the local writing industry because some movie scriptwriters are being questioned on their scripts and stories. Sorry if I cannot elaborate, it might add insult to injury.

  Charting the story flow
Posted by: Corzhens - 05-22-2017, 08:40 AM - Forum: Brainstorming, Outlining and Mindmapping - No Replies

How do you chart the flow of your story? I know that some writers just write from their head, no notes whatsoever. But for amateur writers like me, I understand that writing tools can be of great help like the story outliine or the sequence list. As with the flow of the story, it would be very difficult when your story had went astray so how to put it back on the right track? But don't despair because that disaster of going astray has been experienced by professional writers too.

  Hello everybody

Hello to all! I just joined here since I'm a book-lover, or should I say a read-lover. I love to read anythin, be it a full novel or just a short tale.. they can all be good!
I used to write something time ago (always kept them as private or shared it with friends and family, never published anything) but over the course of the years I lost some inspiration. I found this forum I hope will incentivate me on going back, and if it doesn't... I can always give some help.
Hope I'll be fine!

I have a writer friend who said that he really wanted to be an artist because he is good in drawing and painting. But he had turned to writing because he thought it was easier to earn money by writing than by painting. I guess it is the other way around but we cannot argue with success. He first started as a story writer in comics and then he graduated to writing stories for the movies and later on writing movie scripts. Such luck he had to become an accomplished writer.

  Writing Descriptions
Posted by: kataomoi - 05-21-2017, 07:24 AM - Forum: Brainstorming, Outlining and Mindmapping - Replies (2)

One thing that really stumps me is writing descriptions. I find that a lot of my stories are dialogue-based. There's very little description and that's because I'm not good at writing them. I think vivid descriptions are important, but it's really hard for me to write a good description. I've tried writing them, but my descriptions still seem cliché and boring. Without a good description, it's hard for me to show my readers what is happening in my story.

What are some tips for writing vivid descriptions? Which do you find is easier to write, dialogue or descriptions?

I hate braggarts who tell you tall stories as if to give you an impression that he is a known writer. There are many of them in the industry who would drop names of the prominent in the field. But in fairness to those braggarts,  they are good at inventing stories about their careers.

  Disney movies
Posted by: Corzhens - 05-21-2017, 06:32 AM - Forum: Discuss Movies, TV, Sports & Games - No Replies

Are you fond of animation movies? Animated Disney movies are still the most popular when it comes to the ticket sales. But it is surprising to know that it takes 500 million to produce one movie.  The big budget is to ensure the quality of the movie. If you are commissioned to write a story for Disney, what plot would you write?
